When it comes to marketing your business, there is always room for negotiation. Your job is to get the best possible price from the advertiser. If you do not get your price, you are willing to walk away. Just think about the price which a webmaster charges for a 125×125 banner on a high traffic website within your niche. I see these websites with vacant spaces all of the time. How much money does a webmaster make from a vacant banner space? You guess it, $0. Therefore, if they are asking for $50 per month, and you offer $25 per month for three months, they will most likely realize that a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush. You are giving them $75, and eliminating the risk that they receive absolutely nothing for that space.

Further, you should not overlook promoting a product or service of a business which is not in competition with yours, in exchange for the promotion of your product. This strategy works best when the two businesses have products which complement one another, and are highly relevant to the niche market.
4. Promotion
Is your business offering something which is simply too good to refuse? If not, you have to get a better offer. I am not saying that you should give your products or services away for free. However, you should make your products or services more appealing. You can do this by simply showing the reader exactly what your product or service will do for them, and why they cannot live without it. Conversely, you can add a free bonus which really costs you nothing, but is perceived as highly valuable by the buyer.
You can also light a fire under you buyer by letting them know that the price will go up if they do not purchase now. For instance, you can offer a 10% discount for an immediate order. I can attest first hand that this works. I was looking at computers last fall with no intention of purchasing on that day. Then I realized that there was a sale on one of the computers which I was interested which would save me $200. I ended up purchasing the computer right then and there to get the discount.
You just have to realize that when taking steps to learn how to make money, your marketing does not have to break you. Become comfortable with negotiation. The people who you are working with understand that you can go elsewhere and want to still make a profit off of your business. This is true even if they need to give you a discount. Therefore, their profit becomes your profit, and everyone wins.
